The church of Christ in Tisa celebrated its second anniversary today Sept. 12, 2010. Although the church was founded by Christ in A.D. 33, it did not reach Tisa until this recent past. The church met in Tisa for the first time on Sept. 14, 2008. Since today is the nearest Sunday to Sept. 14, we celebrated and gave thanks to God for His abiding presence in the church.
In the Bible, we can read that the church of Christ continued to extend to the different places. The most notable one was the church that started with the household of Cornelius in Caesarea several years after A.D. 33 (Acts 10). It was the first time that God extended His salvation to the Gentiles or non-Israelites. In our time, the church of Christ still continues to extend to the different places. But it does not mean that the church of Christ was founded only on a particular date other than A.D. 33. So the church of Christ in Tisa was not founded on Sept. 14, 2008. Our 2nd anniversary celebration only means that the church of Christ had extended to the Tisa area in September of 2008.
Our invited speaker was brother Reuben S. Emperado who shared with us the subject on God’s new covenant. He emphasized that all members signed that contract when they were baptized in water, and so he encouraged them to be faithful to that covenant. In coming to the assembly, he was accompanied by brothers Roderick and Rosalito. Brother Joseph R. Barrios from Danao City also visited us for the first time.
The kids also gave a presentation after the worship was over. The theme of their presentation was about Moses and the Ten Plagues.
Thanks be to God for His goodness and faithfulness!
