Good News: Many Christians Fill the Church Building

Today (August 5, 2012), the church building was filled with many Christians who met together to worship the Lord. We had 27 baptized members, 3 visiting non-members, 2 visitors from another congregation, and 16 unbaptized kids. Some members came from as far as Argao, Toledo City, Talisay City, Mandaue City, and Consolacion. It was really nice to see God’s wonderful people meet together as a church. Praise God that we are growing as a church. May we continue to help in encouraging one another so that we can become a strong church pleasing to our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ! After the service, we had our lunch together because every first Sunday of the month is our love feast. Then we had a short meeting in preparation for the August 20 and 21 holidays and for the upcoming 4th anniversary of the church of Christ in Tisa

Praise the Lord for His awesome power.

Brother Sevs Leads the Bible Study for the First Time

On July 29, 2012, brother Sevs led the Bible study during our worship service. Although he is new in the faith, he took the challenge of leading the Bible study. He is one of the diligent children of God, who keeps on worshiping with the church of Christ in Tisa. He was baptized last May 5, 2012, and since then, he is always present during our worship. In most cases, he came straight from Lutopan, Toledo City and arrived in the church ahead of other members. Praise God for giving the church of Christ in Tisa another dedicated soul. May your life be a strong inspiration to other members of God’s Kingdom!

He also comes regularly for our midweek service. In fact, he made arrangement with his company to time in one hour early every Wednesday so that he can leave his office at 5 pm and reach the church building at 6 pm for the midweek service. He already led the Bible study twice during our midweek service. Let’s also praise God for bro. Sevs’ dedication. May God bless you bro. abundantly with both material and spiritual blessings!

Sister Daña Leads the Ladies Class for the First Time

Today (July 1, 2012) sister Daña led the Ladies Class for the first time. She was just baptized last March 2102, but she was able to lead the Ladies Class with confidence. Thanks be to God for giving the church of Christ in Tisa another talented lady that can touch the lives of other ladies. Her topic was about humility, which is one of the virtues being encouraged in the Bible. Jesus, Paul, and many others encouraged every Christian to be humble because humility is one of the virtues that can avert war.

May God bless you sister Daña and your studies! More strength from the Lord for you!

Two Ladies Are Added to the Saved

God should be praised for today (June 23, 2012) two ladies were added to the saved by the Lord. Sister Rhea is a faculty member handling IT courses at the University of Cebu – Lapu-lapu-Mandaue (UC-LM) Campus. She is a very ardent truth seeker and a good student of God’s word. She prioritizes Bible study over her secular graduate studies.

Sister Cleo is a second year UP Cebu student taking up BS in Computer Science. She is very interested in learning the teachings God in the Bible. She was the one who approached me and told me that she wanted to join my Bible studies. Thanks to sister Daña for informing sister Cleo that I am conducting Bible studies.

Halo-halo Making and Eating Session

After the worship activity this morning, we had the halo-halo making and eating session. Everybody participated in making the halo-halo, and of course, everybody enjoyed eating it. It was a good opportunity for the brethren to get closer to one another. I hope more activities like this will happen in the future.

Another Soul Accepts the Gift of Eternal Life

Let us praise the Almighty God for another soul accepted the gift of eternal life. Brother Severino “Sevs” Lorilla was baptized into the death of Christ and was raised to a new life (Romans 6:3-4) today, May 5, 2012. He just graduated from UP Cebu last April 24, 2012 from the degree Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. He started studying diligently the Bible less than a week before his graduation. He continued to study the Bible and finally decided to accept the gift of eternal life, that Jesus offered when He was hanging on the tree.

He is one of those who are seekers of the truth that we need to find. I know there are many of them, but if Christians will not find them, they will be left with no hope in this world and in the world to come. So let us continue to find this kind of people. Let us bring these people to the Lord.

Sister Arianne Makes the Ladies Cry

For the past several weeks, we were not able to have the break-up session in our Bible study. Today (April 22, 2012), we had a separate class for the ladies. Sister Arianne led the Ladies’ Class, and she made the ladies cry. That was how heart-touching the lesson that the ladies shared this morning. So every one must have enjoyed the class. In fact, they overshot the time. This will be continued next Sunday, April 29, 2012. I hope more ladies can join this.

Three More Souls Are Added to the Lord’s Body

Another batch of souls was added to the Lord’s body today (April 21, 2012). This batch included brothers Gid, G-Em, and Simon. Brothers Gid and G-Em are both BSCS students of UP Cebu who will graduate next week. Brother Simon is a BSCS alumnus of UP Cebu and an MSCS student of UP Cebu. Thanks be to God, they all decided to accept the gift of eternal life in Christ Jesus. Baptism photos are found in the Photo Gallery.

Let’s continue to magnify the name of the Lord for all the good things that are happening in the Lord’s kingdom in Tisa!

Family Camp 2012 in Carcar

The church of Christ in Tisa went to a private exclusive beach resort in Carcar to hold its Family Camp 2012 last Friday, April 6, 2012. We (the participants) stayed there for two nights and had our worship in the morning of April 8, 2012 before leaving the place. We had three guests from Argao who joined us, a couple and a son. All in all, there were 27 adult particpants and 4 kids. On the night of April 7, 2012 around 10 o’clock, four souls were baptized into Christ: brothers Erwin Feliscuzo (the husband of sister Larmie) and Alex Arnaiz (Argao guest) and sisters Chianne Omela (the sister of Carol Omela) and Rowena Arnaiz (Argao guest and the wife of Alex Arnaiz).

That baptism was a very different kind of experience because the pool was surrounded by many Christians. There was clapping of hands after each candidate was baptized. But after the fourth candidate was baptized, every body jumped into pool to welcome the new members of God’s family. You may view the pictures of the baptism and participants in our Photo Gallery
